Patrick started Bloom, an AI community in Seoul, in April 2026 with one meetup co-hosted with the Claude Community. It began with an essay he wrote about "Claude Blue," the depression he saw spreading among people who work closest to AI, and the question of how to move from blue to bloom. In seven months Bloom ran 55+ events, drew over 10,000 applicants and grew a Discord of 4,000 members. Partners included Anthropic, Mistral AI, Snowflake, Datadog, Artificial Analysis and others. Most events mix a fireside chat with small circles of six to eight people, and many end with everyone building something.
Anthropic

A one-day hackathon built with Anthropic, hosted at Seoul AI Hub with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and judged by six venture capital firms. The idea was "Day Zero": teams would plan for the global market from the first hour. Patrick designed the format, and the night before he built the tools to run it with Claude: an ops console, a live LED leaderboard, a judging screen for the VCs and a submission form. About 100 builders were selected from ten applicants per seat and formed around 40 teams. Eight reached the final pitch round and five were matched with VCs. Anthropic gave every participant $500 in Claude credits and added $5,000 for each finalist team, more than ₩100M in total. Patrick then open-sourced the whole kit on GitHub.
Claude Community

Bloom's first event, led with a Claude Community ambassador and supported by Anthropic, BizCafe and d.camp. The evening was built around two words, Claude Blue and Claude Bloom. More than 2,000 people applied within a few days for 170 seats. Almost everyone came and stayed to the end, and after the venue closed at 11 p.m. people kept talking on the street outside. Patrick skipped the usual survey and booked fifteen-minute calls with attendees instead. What he heard turned into the small circles and hands-on sessions Bloom used from then on.
Singtel × Claude Community Singapore

Bloom's first event outside Korea, co-hosted with the Claude Community Singapore at the headquarters of Singtel, Southeast Asia's largest telecom operator. Patrick found both partners by messaging people on LinkedIn. More than 1,500 people applied. Bloom ran its usual fireside chat and small groups, and the groups were as lively as any in Seoul. Several attendees said it was the first AI meetup they had been to that wasn't just a skills demo. AWS offered to sponsor the next one.
Expedite × Playco

ICML, one of the largest machine learning conferences in the world, came to Seoul in July 2026. With researchers from everywhere in town for the week, Patrick booked a friend's bar in Cheongdam for the night and hosted an after-party with Expedite and Playco. About 130 researchers from abroad came, from OpenAI, Google DeepMind and Alibaba, and from Stanford, ETH Zurich and Peking University. Thirty minutes before doors opened, Patrick found out the DJ had been booked until 10 p.m. for a party that ran until midnight. A guest who DJs in Hongdae as a hobby happened to have his playlist on a USB stick, and he took over. Many guests thanked the team for a good way to close out ICML.
Lovable

The theme was Taste Is All You Need. For a week before the event, members posted things they had always wanted someone to build. On the day they traded these "complaints" in small groups, then each person picked one and built a working product in Lovable in about ninety minutes. Thirty services went live that afternoon, each with at least one person already waiting to use it.
Artificial Analysis

Artificial Analysis is the independent team behind the benchmark charts quoted at almost every model release. Its first event in Korea was with Bloom. Co-founder George Cameron gave the keynote live from San Francisco at 3:30 a.m. his time, and SK Telecom and Trillion Labs talked about how they build their models. 271 people registered, from NAVER, Upstage, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai, LG, Google Korea, AWS, KAIST and others. Bloom used the sign-up form as a small survey: 88% already used benchmarks to choose models. The 227 questions people submitted were grouped and shown on screen.
Snowflake

Bloom was one of six Korean communities invited to the Community Village at Snowflake World Tour, next to the AWS and Microsoft communities, and brought in the most sign-ups of the six. Bloom gave its speaking slot to a member chosen through an open call: a 17-year-old founder who talked about how teenagers use AI. The video the student posted about the day reached about 300,000 views.
